STYLING THE JFRC

Taking inspiration from four iconic Italian fashion influencers, I styled four JFRC students according to each influencer's signature style to bring the up-and-coming fashion trends of Italy to campus. Each influencer has a unique style that stands out among the many icons of Italian fashion, and my recreations of their signature looks is meant to give you some inspiration, but also encourage you to take styles you like and make them uniquely your own.

Tamu Mcpherson

Tamu Mcpherson, founder of All the Pretty Birds blog, and former editor of Grazia Magazine, is renowned as one of Italy’s most fashionable women. Tamu frequently works towards creating a better industry for creators of color and showcases these issues on her highly distinguished website. Her style consists of pairing bright colors with neutrals to create a balanced but vibrant look. With her outfits, she maintains a creative structure by forming shapes with different components, often including a bigger article of clothing, such as an oversized sweater or long jacket.

When recreating Tamu’s style, we paired a bright pink sweater on top of white jeans, toning down the vibrant color scheme with a brown suede jacket, which also helped to refine the outfit, bringing in a component of elegance. To compliment the otherwise solid colored look, we added a patterned headscarf, rose sunglasses, and gold statement accessories.

Mariano Di Vaio

Mariano Di Vaio is the epitome of what we think of Italian style. Always dressed in a timeless and dapper style, Mariano is characterized by his elegant jackets over a combination of neutral clothes. He is able to maintain a classic look without the extremity of formal wear. Mariano manages to create a traditional classic figure with a twist of leisure.

For this Di Vaio-inspired ensemble , we threw a beige rain jacket over a dark sweater, charcoal trousers, and white button down shirt. While creating this look, it was important to ensure that the white shirt remained untucked, creating the illusion of effortlessness.

Viktoriia Bogodist

Viktoriia’s Instagram account is filled with bright monochromatic and contrasting looks. A fan of colorful jackets, she always accessorizes with a colorful bag and chunky sunglasses. Her style always showcases a powerful and eccentric yet elegant impression.

The recreation of Bogodist’s style consists of a red leather jacket, white button-down shirt worn over a red mini dress, gold accessories, and is completed with a swipe of red lipstick.

Lorenzo Zurzulo

Lorenzo Zurzulo is not a traditional influencer. Instead he stars in the famous Italian TV show, Baby. Lorenzo is characterized by his dark, casual, and effortlessly cool vibe. He is often seen wearing dark clothes, with layers.

To create this look, we decided to put together an all black outfit. The minimalist Nirvana writing on the sweatshirt brings some contrast to the otherwise solid black ensemble consisting of the aforementioned sweatshirt, and slightly baggy black trousers cuffed over Doc Martens. To add another layer, we threw a black jacket over the whole look.

The gold chain and sunglasses accentuate the dark simplicity, making it look extremely put together.
